BIHAR PANCHAYTI RAJ SASHAKTI KARAN ABHIYAN (PACS Intervention):
To ensure participation of the Dalit, minority & OBC women in Bihar Panchayati Raj Election conducted awareness and training for representatives.  This campaign inculcated interest among public and ensured their active participation in election.  For creating confidence in women, Dalit, Minority & other weaker sections of society Abhiyan has launched massive Panchayati Raj Campaign in Patna and Jehanabad districts of Bihar. 

Abhiyan played an important role in State level campaign under the guidance and support form Development Alternative, New Delhi under its PACS intervention. With the view to ensure participation of women, Dalit and most backward class people of society in Panchayati Raj election, it has organized Training of Trainers (TOT), cultural Group training, established Panchayat Information centers, organized foot march, village meetings, wall writings, formation of village committee etc.
Achievement: The average of nomination papers rejection in Bihar was 17% where as only 2% rejection appeared in Jehanabad district, percentage of voting by Dalits, OBC increased, 86 Dalit women won the election.

Livelihood Intervention (TRICKLEUP PROGRAMME USA): Small grant assistance, Entrepreneurship development training, formation of Self Help Groups, training to entrepreneurs in bookkeeping etc are under taken under this programme.  Programme is aimed at supporting poorest of the poor or Below Poverty Line category of people.  They are provided with one time grant for their sustainable livelihood.
Achievement:   This has changed the lifestyle of 550 BPL families.  Those families have now started sending their wards to school, feeding them well, saving money for their future need.

NREGA: People especially the Dalits and other lower strata people are informed educated on the provisions of National Rural Employment Guarantee Act. They are being supported for registering their names and Jobs under NREGA. The coverage area is Jehanabad district and Masaurhi Block of Patna Disrict.
Achievement: 845 people are in receipt of Job Cards and had job opportunities.

Right To Information: Right To Information has proved to be effective weapon for the poor in the way of realization of their entitlements, injustice and delay caused to them by the officials.  Village/Panchayat level campaign has been launched in Jehanabad and Patna districts of Bihar for creating awareness to the people on RTI.   Training to Community volunteers has been imparted on RTI.  In the training provisions of RTI, writing of grievances, application formats, to whom to write complaints, in the event of denial to whom to appeal, 2nd appeal, State/National Level Commissions etc were focused.
Achievement: 159 applications progressed under RTI.

 Mobility support and Economic Empowerment Programme.(GIVE INDIA INTERVENTION): Give India, Mubai is supporting us in mobilizing funds from within India and abroad. It is mainly supporting in the field of disability i.e. wheel chair, calipers, Small Business grant and Formation of Self Help Group and training to its members in book keeping.

Campaign Against Child Labor/Campaign Against Child Trafficking (CACL/CACT): Child and women trafficking/labour is posting serious threat to the society.  Children and women are trafficked to other paced I the country in the name of jobs and often engaged in child labour and sexual activity.  To check the trafficking, we have formed a district level committee in Munger.  This committee is being represented by the PRI members, local administration, VOs, lawyers and media persons We are creating awareness amongst people through the distribution of handbills, posters, wall writings, meetings, Gosthi, seminars and public contacts.

Campaign against dowry, female feticides and Negative Cultural Attitude towards female  & Developing Leadership, Reproductive Health & Right status to enable them to encounter violence (MANAV JODO ABHIYAN): (KFO intervention):  Patna and Jehanabad districts are covered under this programme.  Massive campaign trough different activities have been undertaken mainly against negative cultural attitude towards female and all sorts of women atrocities including domestic violence. Women related issues like dowry, atrocities, dowry death, female feticides, women education, women rights and entitlements, their participation in decision making process at family, village and Panchayat levels are focused.  Besides the above Reproductive Child health issue is also undertaken. Health awareness and Reproductive Child Health, leadership development issues are also undertaken under this project intervention. It is aimed to ensure prompt and effective implementation and delivery services to rural poor.  Young married couples are sensitized on the importance of delaying first childbirth till the women attain the age of 21 years and 3 years gap in two childbirths, abortion, RTI/STI, HIV/AIDS and immunization.
Achievement:  Existence of Manav Zodo Abhiyan, enable to create pressure on Government with the help of Intellectual, media persons, likeminded NGOs, compact in 150 villages through massive campaign, Inter-caste –inter-religion marriage to Youths, campaign through media in whole of Bihar state.

Environmental Education Programme:  20 High and Middle schools of Kako block of Jehanabad district have been covered under this.  School children and the villagers have been educated and awared of the need of the pollution free environment in the interest of all living beings. The main issues of focus were solid waste management biodiversity, vermin composting etc.
Achievement: Decision to keep 20 Schools green, water management, Judicious and rationale use of water, Non use of crackers by students, use of sanitary latrines, 1250 students and teachers awared and their level of knowledge pertaining to environment enhanced.

Entrepreneurship Development and Training to youth:  This training was extended to the youth of PMRY Scheme in entrepreneurship Development training to enable them to start with income generation activities for their sustainable livelihood.  The trained youths have started their income generation activities and running the same well. Running of residential Schools for SC/ST/Minority girls.  Two residential camp schools are being run at Taljhari & Borio block of Sahibganj district of Jharkhand, exclusively for the girls of lower strata.  The female children belong to disprivilledged section of society.
Achievement: 485 Youths imparted training and encouraged for employment.

Campaign against ARSENIC: A massive campaign for removal of Arsenic from the existing drinking water sources and provisioning of safe water for drinking with the view to prevent diseases cause due to this are being organized in Sahibganj district of Jharkhand.
Achievement: The level of awareness of about 50000 populations in regard to arsenic water enhanced.  People have started taking precaution and using water filter.

Water and Sanitation Programe:  With the view to discourage open-air defecation and improving sanitation status of the people of Masaruhi Block of Patna District and Sheikhpura Block of Sheikhpura District, Abhiyan has launched a massive campaign in both the districts of Bihar.  It has assessed the need of the Panchayat People through a survey and in the process of searching a suitable intervention for providing need based services in the field of water and sanitation’s. 135 Low cost latrines have been constructed so far. People of the project villages have been duly motivated   for use of sanitary latrines; avoid open-air defecation, washing of hands before meals and after defecation. Keeping the sanitary latrines neat and clean, use of safe drinking water and judicious and rationale use of water.
Achievement: 135 low cost latrines construction for the marginalized section of society, level of awareness to 22000 families enhanced. Majority of people in area of intervention have started using sanitary latrines and keeping them neat and clean.

Networking with NGOs, working for disabled, ATSEC, CACT, Women atrocities: Abhiyan has taken initiatives for the formation of a state level platform to deal with the issues of disability, ATSEC, Campaign against child trafficking & women atrocities.  There are 50 members representing different NGOs located in the state of Bihar.  They will make combined and collective efforts for rehabilitation for PWDs, children rescued and will pressurized the concerned officials for realizing their due share and have advocacy in favor of above targeted groups.
