
The persons with disability are motivated and helped to form Self help Groups in order to promote savings and independency and sustenance. They are also provided vocational trainings on mat, envelope, candle and Agarbatti making, tailoring etc. The persons with disability are also helped in getting disability certificate, which helps them in getting benefit of different government schemes. They are also motivated and supported to take admission in the schools, teaching learning materials have been developed for the Mentally Retarded and Hearing impaired people, social awareness campaign is also conducted for sensitizing people about the persons with disability, Aids and appliances (Calipers, tricycles etc.) are also provided and they are also trained for the repair of such appliances. This has been implemented in 30 villages of Masuarhi Block of Patna district of Bihar. Activities like awareness generation on right and duties, entitlement, aids and appliances, Formation of SHGs with PWDs and their parents, capacity building to SHG members, building of network of SHGs for common action, linkages of SHG with banks, organizing of of Block level sports/games, preparation of teaching &; learning material, facilitating admission of CWD in to main stream school, organize camps by NIOH for needs assessments and provision of aids and appliances, camp by mobility India, Training to Traditional birth Attendants, input to newly married couples to cluster level, immunization campaign , need based field training for CBR personnel by SANCHAR Kolkata skill development training and other facilities including availability of disability certificate and scholarships have been under taken. Under this rehabilitation initiatives more than 450 persons have been benefited. CARITAS, INDIA, New Delhi, CBR Forum, Bangalore and Give India, Mumbai extended the financial and technical support.
Achievement:
84 given Mobility support in the form of tricycle, calipers etc. 60 disability certificates, formation of 40 SHGs with PWDs and their parents & 40 Traditional Birth Attendants provided with training on health issues, skill of 80 PWDs/CWDs developed.
