The Origin
Inspired with Gandhi Jee, Vinoba, Lohia and Lok Nayak Jaiparakash
Narayan a group of people with improved social devotion and
feeling organized them "To establish a just society in
which no one remains hungry, unemployed, illiterate and exploited."
ABHIYAN came into existence on the eve of International Women's
Day, 8 th March 1991. In the same year it got legal status
and registered under Societies Registration Act, 21, 1860.
Its effort is to give grass root development a new dimension
by following the mantra of TOWARDS COMMUNITY and CHANGING
BEHAVIOUR. By following homogeneity and philanthropic ideology,
effort is to educate, organize, sensitize and empower Dalit,
Poor and weaker section of the society and focus on mainstreaming
the rural poor and underprivileged section of society towards
development. The organization follow the principle of we feeling,
participatory approach, blending of professionalism with social
feeling, community participation and suggestions. The organization
has intervention of Bihar and Jharkhand states and the main
programs are women Empowerment, Reproductive and child health,
rehabilitation of disabled, community building, health education,
agriculture development, environmental education etc. Effort
is to make both community and Government sensitive towards
grass root development. It emphasizes to link organization
activities and initiatives with government schemes and programmes
for sustainable development. Smiling faces of women, children
youth , poor, dalit and weaker section of society shows sound
steps of ABHIYAN.
Secretary's Note
This annual reports express reflection of ABHIYN's effots
and initiatives in the eyar. Since more than one decade the
organization is working with and for the downtrodden section
of community, for their empowerment and upliftment. Community
cooperation community involvement and organized efforts are
the helping hand for the organization as we have limited fund
resources.
The new initiatives of the organization in this year is intimation
of Reproductive and Child health cum child education program
at Masaurhi Block Patna and training to new elected women
Panchayat Raj Institution members at Jehanabad district. In
the mean time the organization has implemented following programs
i.e. community building (Lok Samiti), Micro credit, women
empowerment, Manav Jodo Abhiyan, Environment education community
health, sustainable agriculture, rehabilitation of disabled,
human rights, Right to information Gender, safe drinking water,
campaign against child trafficking, total sanitation campaign
etc impact of the programs like vermin compost, construction
and renovation of Ahar, Pond and other rural development are
visible. These very programs have provided us an opportunity
and space to strengthen the involvement with community and
broaden the scope of empowerment. Rural poor especially women
member are sensitized and aware towards socio-economic development
and organized to combat social evils and fight for development
rights meant for them. Further sensitization and education
on need-based issues has improved confidence and self reliant
of community.
Recently we are working with seven donor Agencies with their
kind suggestions, guidance and cooperation. We as ever extend
heartfelt gratitude to them. Also we are very much thankful
to the workers, friends, intellectual's media persons, members
of Executive Committee etc, for their cooperation and support
in implementation of programs, which enabled us to reach near
to set objectives. We also express heartily thanks to all
our team members, at Abhiyan for their dedication and commitments
shown.

- Sri Banke Bihari Prasad - Actively participated in 1974
Total Revolution JP movement. Since then working with peasants
for their promotion and organization building.
- 2. Mr. Sanjay Manjhi- He works for Dalit Rights and has
a huge experience in the field of SHG formation.
- Mr. Satyendra Prasad - Amassed expertise in the field
of disability and micro financing. Since last five years
he is working for the rehabilitation of persons with disability.
- Smt. Kranti Rasosh - As active social activist she works
for women empowerment, local self-governance and against
domestic violence, atrocities, female foeticide etc since
last 20 years.
- Ms. Akhtari Begum - Working for women with focus on Dalit
and minority women for their land rights. She mainly concentrates
to their skill development, motivation towards education
and family planning.
- Smt. Sudama Devi -She is a grassroots level social worker
experienced of taking gender issues, organization building
for women in the are of operation.
- Mr. Abdus Subhan - He is a young and energetic social
activist working for the upliftment of Schedule Tribes and
minority with specific focus on education, water and sanitation.
- Mr. Satyendra Singh - He works for Dalit community, exclusively
for Mushars, one of the most disprivilledged lots of society.
He takes initiatives for the NREGA, RTI, education and shelter
to them.
- Mr. Arvind Kumar -He has acquired experience and expertise
in accounting and bookkeeping. He organizes training in
book keeping to SHGs members and network Voluntary Organizations.
- Mr. Ranjan Kumar - He is expert in Reproductive Child
Health, NREGA, Right to Information etc. He is actively
involved to promote women's Health, timely immunization
of children, family planning etc.
- Mr. Ram Dahin Sharma - Experienced in the field of child
Rights and Rehabilitation the persons with disability.
- Ms. Anjali- She provides training to work on different
issues like Gender, Reproductive child health, women rights
- . Smt. Usha - She works for the upliftment, organizing
women and against atrocities and domestic violence on women.
She is an active member of Bihar Women's Network and has
participated in National level women programmes

The working strategy of ABHIYAN is to involve the
community in planning, Implementation, Monitoring and
Evaluation of the programme by following participatory
approach. Focus is on to make the programme need based

of the programs. ABHIYAN promotes the value of voluntarism
and strengthening of Community based Institution. It
emphasis on equal blending of professionalism and social

Mahendru, Patna, while for the communication facilities, the
Coordination office is located at Birsa Adivasi Colony, Gulzarbagh,
Patna. It has rented office building, training hall, guest house
and ofther facilites at Patna, while has rented office building,
meeting hall and guest rooms at Masaurhi, Patna, Kako and Hulasganj,
Jehanabad, It has also acquired 1800 Sq.ft land at Patna. 2
four wheelers, 7 motorbike, 2 Generators, 1 Diesel engine pump
set, Video camera, Freeze, TV, VCD, 2 Digital cameras are also
available with this organization. |
